outward to port and starboard, pass over the cockpit seats and rest against the forward bulkhead of the aft cabin. The lower door, folds down toward the cockpit floor. Light enters the aft cabin through the glazing on top of the hatch and two opening porthole - one on each side of the cabin. The space below the aft cabin decking is divided and can be used for storage of fenders and other light equipment or supplies.
The aft cabin as seen from port. The cabin is constructed of plywood and West System epoxy. Hawaiian Koa was used for carlins, corner posts and beams. The cabin sides and bulkheads are covered on the outside with a single layer of fiberglass cloth/epoxy, whereas two layers were used on the cabin top. The hatch, which opens aft, is constructed from teak and covered with 3/8" bronze tinted polycarbonate glazing - a modern engineering thermoplastic.
