s/y HONU, Flicka # 413 Randy Kroeck and Mike Brunk sailed from Marathon in the Florida Keys to Rio Dulce, Guatemala, returning via Belize, Mexico, and Dry Tortugas. One passage was eight and one-half days.
s/y CARAWAY, Flicka #423 Caraway was purchased new by Julian Vyner and shipped to Cornwall in the UK in 1993. Robin Benjamin looked after Caraway for a couple of years and sailed her to various destinations along the South Coast of England for her owner. She survived a gale off Portland Bill where she was knocked down running before big seas but emerged unscathed. She sailed the full length of the English Channel and came to rest in Burnham on Crouch on the East Coast north of the Thames. There is a picture of her in an early Flicka Friends issue sailing under Tower Bridge in the heart of the City of London!
After several years of occasional use, she was bought by Angus Beare in 2002. Her new owner sailed her back to the South Coast to Chichester where she was made shipshape again. She was then sailed to Brighton for a summer where she sailed most weekends taking friends on short fishing trips under sail.
In June 2003, Angus Beare and Robin Benjamin sailed Caraway across the English Channel to Calais where the mast was stepped and Caraway entered the French canals. Caraway continued to Reims where Robin took the train home and Angus took Caraway the rest of the way through France, emerging at Aigues Mortes in the Camargue region after some 600 miles of canals and over 200 locks. Angus sailed Caraway alone along the French coast to the Bay of St. Tropez. The following year she sailed back and forth along the south coast of France from Cannes to Toulon, following the local coastal winds.
In 2005, CARAWAY sailed from Cannes to Corsica (100) miles and encountered a summer mistral with winds reaching force 7 and very large seas some 35 miles from the north Corsican coast. After a few nights in Calvi, Caraway sailed on around the north coast, down the West Coast, through the straights on Bonifaccio and up the West coast to Ajaccio, stopping at various anchorages and ports along the way. From Ajaccio she sailed to Mahon in Minorca (250) miles and then circumnavigated Minorca. In Sept 2005 she sailed from Fornells Bay in Minorca back to the Bay of St Tropez (250 miles).
s/v GAMINE, sloop rigged Flicka Steve McWherter sailed GAMINE on a round trip single-handed passage to Bermuda in May-June of 2005. Other Flicka owners followed this trip via Ham radio based e-mail messages that were sent to the Yahoo Flicka 20 Group.
s/v HRAI ROO, sloop rigged Flicka After refitting Nor'Star Flicka HRAI ROO, Deb & Jim Custer sailed south from Puget Sound, down the west coast and the length of the Baja California Peninsula. They continued along the Mexico mainland to Puerto Vallarta, Zihuatenejo and Zihua. From there, the headed offshore for a 42 day passage to Hiva Oa, Marquesas. Their travels in the South Pacific included Fatu Hiva, Ua Pou,and Nuku Hiva in the Marquesas, Tahiti, Moorea, Raiatea and Bora Bora in French Polynesia. They returned to Hawaii and are now in the mainland United States. HRAI ROO was shipped back to the Pacific Northwest in August of 2006.
s/v KAWABUNGA, sloop rigged Flicka: Margaret and Charlie Dewell sailed their Flicka, 10,000 miles through the Pacific Islands and returned home in June 1996. Their voyage of adventure, Kawabunga's South Seas Adventure (ISBN: 0-9666472-0-3) is published by South Seas Publishing. Kawabunga departed San Diego, California (USA) on May 14th 1995, destination Nuku Hiva in the Marquesas Island Group. Ports of call included Tahiti, Cook's Bay in Moorea, Bora Bora, Christmas Island, Palmyra Atoll and the Hawaii Islands. Kawabunga is now berthed in Marina del Rey, California (USA) and is home to Charlie and Margaret.
s/v RAPPORT, cutter rigged Flicka: Don Marken and Jack Harding, aboard Flicka Rapport (Hull 298) made San Diego to Hilo in 22 days - May 2000. Rapport's best run was 250 miles in 2 days.
