You've seen the classic little Flicka in the design pages of Sea, Motor Boating and Sailing, National Fisherman, Boating, Sailing, Sail, Lakeland Yachting and the Nor'westing magazine. She has appeared as a continuous seven month special feature in Rudder and now she's even being produced as a stock kit model. Now there are over 250 completed or partially finished Flickas world wide in fiberglass {Editor: GRP} as well as ferrocement, constructed by professional and amateurs alike. There must be some good reasons for this unanimous acclaim!

You betcha there are! and plenty of 'em.

Flicka was styled after the famous Newport boats of the early nineteen hundreds, which earned their reputations as sea-kindly, easy single handlers while plying the rough waters of the New England coast in the fishing trade. They were fast, rugged, capable of carrying large hauls during any kind of weather, stable and cozy. Flicka preserves these features . . . and more.

At a glance, her displacement seems somewhat ample, but it is the result of her extremely long waterline and wide beam which are within normal ratios. We often think of Flicka as really being a 26 footer with her ends shortened, and, in essence . . . that's exactly what she is.

In fact, it is her short ends that lead to such a pleasant ride, her "kicky" character and modest docking bill.

Being only twenty feet does not mean that she's small by a long shot. Many Flicka's have been constructed for extended offshore cruising as well as for live-aboard. We would not have the slightest reservation against taking Flicka on a long trans-oceanic passage or of setting up house for long periods of time.

She has a full 6'2" headroom throughout the length of the cabin and will sleep up to four people without the slightest cramp. The forward "Vee" berth may be converted to a double with an insert covering the water closet, the settee will accommodate one person while the galley top receives the settee-back cushion for the fourth person. This is accomplished by placing covers over the sink and stove top. The galley, itself, is luxurious 6'3" long and may be installed with gimbaled two burner stove with oven. There is also a large ice box and plenty of cupboard space. Flicka is not lacking in shelves or bins and there is even a chain locker for ground tackle. Two ample sail lockers surround the self bailing cockpit and a small hanging clothes locker rounds out her interior. She is also fitted with a hinged drop table for dinning or navigation, and small portholes may be installed at the heads of the forward berths.

Those who step below simply cannot believe this boat's size. Her interior is wide open, airy and very workable under all conditions. If
