Re: Haulout 11/01/2008

Hi Paul

I need to write up a help file on adding images. Just haven't got time at the moment.

For now I just adjusted the size of these images so they don't move outside the panel borders. You can do this yourself next time though.
Once you have pasted the link into the Blog editor and saved the entry you can right-click on the image and get 'image properties'. Just set the
horizontal size to 600 which will auto size the height.

If you want to add images to the server please resize them to about 600px wide and then click the image icon on the blog editor. It's a little icon that looks like a mountain with the sun beyond. When you click this you will get a panel pop up. Click browse server and then another panel appears with some folders. Double click the blog folder and then images folder.

You can then browse with the top right button and choose an image on your local computer. Then upload and select. Then set a few properties for this image and it should be inserted into the blog entry.

I agree on keeping the original layout of your boat. However, I do prefer the open plan version. But it's nice to keep original rare examples as they are.

I'd certainly use Cetol on the exterior teak as it's a lot easier than varnish. But if you want Bristol then nothing beats the labour of love than is Epiphanes!
I'd stick with a good quality teak oil for the interior or some kind of satin varnish.

One thing to watch out for with a neglected boat is the thru decks. These are always leaking and can cause rot to internal plywood and damage the headliner.
I found PSC used ordinary staples on my headliner which of course rust! I'm sure they were supposed to use SS but didn't!

You might also find that stanchions and other deck fittings need re-bedding in. This is a long and messy job but worth doing. Water will soon find it's way in once you get
out in some rough water..

looking forward to seeing a shiny new Mable !
